For a detailed list with contacts: Contacts of participating towns in 2010
This year there were many events all around the world that publicly demanded the end of slaughterhouses. There were actions in Italy, France, Switzerland, Germany, South Africa, Portugal, Bolivia, Brazil, USA, Ireland, England and India! More than 50 towns participated to this international day. Many thanks to all participants! We can say that the expression of this political claim already helped to start the public debate concerning the abolition of the killing of animals for food.
You can see the pictures of the actions made during the World Day for the Abolition of Meat 2010 .
You can also watch some videos of the world day for the abolition of meat by clicking here.
Because of this day's success there is not enough space to put every report on this page, sorry, but you can find nearly all of them by visiting the organizers' website.
A report from Italy
22 towns answered the call for action for the Abolition of Meat, planning events on January 30-31.
An extraordinarily large number of veg*ans participated by demonstrating against farming, hunting and fishing: 100 persons in Milan, 50 in Turin, 35 in Pordenone, 30 in Rome...
The activists created effective happenings, with masks and chains, forming lively representations of the objectification of animals and of mourning for their butchery, showing videos of animal exploitation and filling the air with the victims' cries. We displayed the significance of this tragedy and brought it to public attention, in order to voice what we ourselves seldom dare to say: end the ongoing slaughter!
We handed out thousands of flyers and quizzes on the life of farmed animals (available here: http://aboliamolacarne.blogspot.com/2010/01/materiali-per-la-seconda-giornata.html ).
The happenings were well covered by the medias: many newspapers and radios talked about the abolition of meat , reporting local demos, and the national TV followed the demos in Milan and Pordenone.
Complete reports with photos and videos from each town will be available at http://aboliamolacarne.blogspot.com (photo gallery here: http://picasaweb.google.it/abolizionecarne).
The Italian Network for the Abolition of Meat wishes to thank all the activists for their contribution and hopes to see them soon.
We are happy to inform that Italy is planning another Day for the Abolition of Meat on April 17-18!

A report from Germany
There has been in Germany approx. 10 actions explicitely for the movement for the abolition of meat: in Stuttgart, Munich, Karlsruhe, Pforzheim and Tübingen, all of them so far located in Southern Germany.
# The report (until now only in German) is here: http://www.tirs-online.de/
# there is also a yahoo group in German, that you can enter here: yahoogroup Abschaffung von Fleisch
(The english one is here, useful to share information and organize actions: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/meatabolition/ )
# we have created another blog: www.abschaffungvonfleisch.blogspot.com
# we are trying to translate the brochure into German.
# we are also in favour of another date for the worldwide action day, january is namely always cold here=> harder for the activists and less people in the streets.
We will hopefully be able to make similar actions more often during the year and hopefully even in April as our Italian Friends proposed... we also think that it is necessary for the abolition to be more often than once a year on the streets, to show our convictions and which would differentiate it to less "offensive" action days like e.g. "meat out"
Thank you and congratulations
to all people who organized actions all over the world... I do have a good feeling about the movement!

Report from Ireland
Saturday's vigil for World Day for the Abolition of meat was a great success. Despite the rain,
hail , and snow in tow, activists from Donegal Veg and N.A.R.A. held signs highlighting the numbers of animals slaughtered
for food per year, hour, and second and distributed hundreds of leaflets from 1 to 4pm across from Market Square, Main Street,
Letterkenny. « Our goal on Saturday was to mourn the billions of animals unnecessarily killed each year and to get society
to acknowledge that the use of animals and their treatment as property and mere objects is immoral. Exploitation, abuse, and
murder is just that no matter if those being affected are non-humans. Convenience, taste, and tradition are certainly
not excuses to continue exploiting non-humans. » said Julia Feliz, spokesperson for the Donegal Veg Group.
